Sustainable Design

What if Architecture could “eliminate negative environmental impact completely through skillful, sensitive design”? CDA Architects encourages clients to consider sustainable design, which is not an attachment or supplement to architectural design, but an integrated design process.

Designing environmentally optimal buildings, also known as “green buildings,” is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from design, to construction and through occupancy. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a voluntary, consensus based rating system that is a nationally recognized standard for developing sustainable buildings. CDA Architects completed our first, and South Carolina’s second, privately owned LEED Certified building in 2003. With currently six LEED APs on staff, we offer our expertise for clients who want buildings that enhance our environment.
