Wilbur Smith Associates: Renovation (Columbia, SC)
With an outdated office setting and the desire to boost the company image, Wilbur Smith commissioned the Interiors Department of CDA Architects to give their 66,845 square foot office environment an innovative and reorganized appearance. A total of six floors were completely renovated which included the Board Room, elevator lobbies, reception / waiting and other office areas. A modified floor plan allowed the firm to maximize departmental adjacencies thus making the organization more efficient. The finishes and furnishings of the interior design link each floor of the company together, giving it a unified facade. Existing furniture was utilized for all spaces except for the Executive Suite on the 16th floor, where new furniture reflects a world renown engineering firm. To ensure a timely move, CDA provided WSA a Phasing Schedule and Plan for the periodic move of staff to completed spaces. CDA incorporated code compliance into the newly designed areas as well as developing, meeting a budget and recommending a competent general contractor.
